第一話: パンやのむすめ

ここは パンがくれむら です。とくべつな パンやの むら です。この むらでは パンやさんは まほうの パンを つくります。

パンがっこうで がくせいは まほうの パンの つくりかたを まなびます。こめこは この がっこうの がくせい です。でも パンづくりが にがてです。おかあさんと おとうさんは おしえたかったけど、きえてしまいました。それからは イーストせんせいと いっしょに すんでいます。

ほかの がくせいは すてきな しょくパンを つくれます。かれらの パンは まほうで ひかります。でも こめこは おにぎりも つくれません。

「おかあさんと おとうさんは すごい パンやさんだったのに！」と ほかの がくせいが いいます。「まほうの パンで むらを すくったんだよ！」

こめこは とても かなしくなります。もういちど パンを つくろうとします。みんなの パンは よく ふくらみます。でも こめこの パンは ぺちゃんこです。なきだしてしまいます。

すると ふしぎな ことが おこります。なみだが パンのこに おちると、パンのこが ひかりだします！

あたたかい においが ただよいます。おかあさんの やきたての パンの においです。

そして こめこは こころの なかで こえを ききます。「こんにちは、こめこ」と こえが いいます。「わたしは キューパン。ずっと きみを まっていたんだ。」

こめこは からだの なかが あたたかくなります。まほうの パンの せいしんが からだの なかに すんでいるのです！

でも きをつけないと いけません。おこっているときに つくると、わるい パンに なってしまいます。じぶんを しんじると、まほうの パンが つくれます。

その ひ、こめこは はじめての まほうの パンを つくります。それは たくさんの パンに なれる パンです。おなかが すいた ひとに パンを あげられます。

これが こめこの ものがたりの はじまりです。おかあさんと おとうさんの ように まほうの パンやさんに なるのです。

English Version

Episode 1: The Baker’s Daughter

This is Pangakure Village. It is a special village of bakers. In this village, bakers make magical bread.

At the Bakery School, students learn to make bread with magic. Komeko is a student at this school. But she is not good at making bread. Her mother and father wanted to teach her, but they vanished. Since then, she lives with Master Yeast.

Other students can make wonderful shokupan. Their bread glows with magic. But Komeko cannot even make rice balls.

“Your mother and father were great bakers!” the other students say. “They saved our village with magical bread!”

Komeko becomes very sad. She tries to make bread again. Everyone else’s bread rises well. But Komeko’s bread stays flat. She starts to cry.

Then something magical happens. Her tears fall on the bread dough. The dough begins to shine!

A warm smell fills the air. It smells like her mother’s fresh bread.

Then Komeko hears a small voice in her heart. “Hello, Komeko,” the voice says. “I am Kyuu-pan. I have been waiting for you.”

Komeko feels warm inside. A magical bread spirit lives in her body!

But she must be careful. When she is angry, her bread becomes bad bread. When she believes in herself, her bread becomes magical bread.

That day, Komeko makes her first magical bread. It is bread that can make many copies of itself. She can give bread to everyone who is hungry.

This is how Komeko’s story begins. She will learn to be a magical baker, just like her parents.
